The Wig and Pen, St. James St., Paisley

This is the original Irish bar in Paisley.  There are a few Irish theme bars in the town now but this one is more of a 'Celtic minded' bar.  It is a friendly enough wee boozer with a good karaoke at the weekends.  During the day its normally quiet.  If you do go here check out the jukebox, about half of which is made up of Irish folk bands singing about potato famines, etc.  Also, there is all sorts of crazy crap splashed over the walls and ceilings.  What is it about Irish bars in Scotland with posters all over the place?  I have been to Dublin and their bars aint like that at all.  When in here try and spot the framed picture of Pope John Paul II, great fun!

 Langs, Moss St., Paisley

Spit and sawdust pub with a difference.  Some years back it renovated the rear of the pub to make a nicely lit up area for the wives to sit and discuss shopping whilst leaving the bar area like a workers pub.  I like this place for a quick pint now and again.  Check out the bottle of St Mirren whisky above the bar, Even older than my 1987 bottle!

NED PUB !   NED PUB !
This is the first ned pub featured on the site.  You really gotta go down here just to see the neds in action.  One day after a Celtic V Rangers match I was in here having a pint.  Next thing the whole place erupts with pool cues, bottles, chairs everthing flying around.  The whole pub, including the females, were at it.  Only myself and some other bloke at the bar didnt get involved.  5 min later the police had closed the place down.  Unless your a 17 year old ned your probably should give this place a miss.

 The Anchor, Gauze St., Paisley

This place aint the cheapest but its one of the better bars in my opinion.  Barstaff and locals dont treat you like a leper when you go in for the occasional visit.  The barman even gifted me his lighter one day as I didnt have one.  Or was this a way of saying 'stop annoying the regulars for a light'.  Nice clean pub which has a mix of clientele from the town and nearby offices.

Hole in the Wa'., New Sneddon St., Paisley

You want to buy a pub?, Well this one is never off the market.  This place is falling apart at the seams.  A no frills boozer if ever there was one.  Dont get me wrong here, I actually like this place.  The regulars are real down to earth guys ready to chew your ear anytime.  Features of this pub are the pool table and the countless number of shoplifters who try to fence their wares every half hour.  Theres a thing,  your typical Paisley shoplifter is a soapdodging blackneck but theyre always trying to punt deoderant, toothpaste, razors and other hygiene products, weird!
Another reason to try this place is on a Saturday night they always have a greasy rock band playing all your favourite rock numbers.  Downside to this is that it attracts all the misfits around town who think we're still in the 70's.
